Hello Parents and Athletes!

On behalf of the Raptor Sports School, we hope your family had a joyous holiday season and are gearing up for a prosperous New Year! Our registration day is going to be VERY different from your previous High School or different water polo club experiences.  To help you prepare for next Monday, we are sending you a timeline of events and the registration packet in advance.  We hope you will have time to ask questions and prepare to make Monday go as smoothly as possible.

  • The registration table will open at 4 pm OUTSIDE the pooldeck.  One parent must accompany their student athlete through the outside (paperwork) part of the registration process. The registration packet is attached in this email.  We are encouraging all participants to “pre-fill” this packet before they arrive.
  • If you have not yet registered for USA Water Polo, please do it now. NO student will be allowed on the pooldeck until their USA Water Polo Membership requirement is satisfied. If you have already paid for this session, please bring a copy of your receipt with you. For anyone still needing to pay for this session, please be advised that for the safety of our volunteers NO CASH will be accepted on Monday.  Please make out checks or money orders to: Raptor Sports. The cost of this session is $150.
  • In the future, we hope be able to write for grants and gain sponsorships to reduce athlete costs. In order to do this, we must prove we are having a positive effect on our athletes’ physical fitness.  We will conduct “pre-session” physical fitness tests on the pooldeck beginning at 4:15 pm.  These tests will include: max pushups in one minute, max curl-ups (situps) in one minute, a body mass index calculation, and a timed swim test. (12u and 14u new players will be timed for 25 yards. 14u and up with previous experience will be timed for 100 yards.)
  • We are not able to use the pool to start the swim testing until 5 pm.  Please keep in mind if you get to registration early, there is the potential for some downtime for your student athlete.  Athletes may sit in the bleacher area or leave and return by 5 pm.
  • To facilitate a smooth check in process and collect the physical fitness data, we are asking for any available volunteers to help us. We need up to 12 volunteers to work a 3:45 pm to 5:15 pm shift and 8 volunteers to work a 4:45 pm to 6:15 pm shift.  If you are available and willing to help, please email Melissa Haygood at “mhaygood@wccable.com“.
  • To comply with Chino Hills High School regulations, all student athletes must use the dressing rooms to change into their swim attire.  “Deck changing” will not be permitted at any Raptor Sports practice, scrimmage, game, etc.
  • We are expecting 50-70 athletes on Monday, so please plan accordingly.

I realize this is a lot of information and I apologize. We are launching something very new and different. I hope that getting you this information early will make the process easier on your family. Please let me know what other questions I can answer for you. Again, on behalf of Raptor Sports, thank you for your support. We hope you are as excited for next Monday as we are.

To a great year ahead,

Tim Tobin
